How to enable the accessibility menu in Android 12

Short guide:

  1. Open the Settings  and select Accessibility.
  2. Tap Accessibility menu. Tap the toggle switch for Accessibility menu shortcut to turn it on. 
  3. Tap Allow to the notification, then OK
  4. Open the Accessibility menu by tapping the shortcut button.
  5. To increase the size of the buttons go back to Settings > Accessibility > Accessibility Menu and tap on Settings. Tap the toggle switch for Large buttons to turn it on.

This section explains how to enable the Accessibility menu in Android 12. This is a step-by-step guide with pictures of the screens to help.

Open the Accessibility settings

1. Open the Settings  and select Accessibility.

2. Scroll down to the Interaction controls section and tap Accessibility Menu.

3. Tap the toggle switch for Accessibility menu shortcut to turn it on.

Allow full control

4. You will see a pop-up notification asking you to allow the Accessibility menu to have full control of your device. Tap Allow to continue.

5. You will now see a second pop-up notification explaining how to open the Accessibility menu. You’ll also see the new Accessibility menu shortcut button floating on the right side of the screen. Select OK to continue.

6. You can now open the Accessibility menu by tapping the Accessibility shortcut button. Tap on any of the buttons to launch the relevant Android feature or setting.

7. If you find the buttons in the Accessibility menu hard to see or select, you can increase the size of the buttons and only have four per page. Go back to Settings > Accessibility > Accessibility menu and tap on Settings.

Note: We have written these instructions for devices running the standard version of the Android operating system. You may find some minor presentation differences if the manufacturer has customised the theme.
