How to switch to the Dark theme in Android 14

Short guide:

  1. Open the Settings  app. Scroll down and tap Display.
  2. Tap the toggle switch for Dark theme to turn it on.
  3. Tap where it says Dark theme, Will never turn off automatically to schedule when it turns on and off.
  4. Tap Schedule and select either None, Turns on at custom time or Turns on from sunset to sunrise.
  5. If you choose Turns on at custom times, tap and use the clock controls to set a Start time and an End time.

This section explains how to switch to the Dark theme in Android 14. This is a step-by-step guide with pictures of the screens to help.

Open the Display settings

1. Open the Settings app. Scroll down and tap Display.

Put Dark theme on a schedule

3. By default, Dark theme is on all the time. If you would like to schedule Dark theme to turn on and off at set times, tap where it says Dark theme, Will never turn off automatically

Select a schedule

4. Tap Schedule and select either None, Turns on at custom time or Turns on from sunset to sunrise.

5. If you choose Turns on at custom times, tap the Start time to set it. Drag the hands on the clock control to set the hour and minute of the start time, then tap OK. Do the same for the End time .

Note: We have written these instructions for devices running the standard version of the Android operating system. You may find some minor presentation differences if the manufacturer has customised the theme.
