How to set a custom zoom level in Google Chrome

You can change the default zoom level used by the Google Chrome web browser. This way, text and images will always appear larger whenever you use the browser. You can still use the keyboard shortcuts and the Zoom control options shown above but when resetting the zoom level, it will revert to your new setting instead of 100%.

To change the default zoom level:

  1. Open the Google Chrome web browser .
  2. Select the Menu button in the top-right of the web browser.
  3. Select Settings from the menu.
  4. The Google Chrome settings page will open.
  5. In the search box at the top of the settings page, type “appearance”.
  6. In the Appearance section, select the drop-down menu for Page Zoom and choose a new default zoom level.

How to increase the default text size in Google Chrome

You can specify default font sizes so that text on web pages is always larger. Note: Some websites don’t allow you to change the font size so these settings may not work on every website you visit.

  1. Open the Google Chrome web browser .
  2. Select the Menu button in the top-right of the web browser.
  3. Select Settings from the menu.
  4. The Google Chrome settings page will open.
  5. In the search box at the top of the settings page, type “appearance”.
  6. In the Appearance section, select the Font size drop-down menu and choose a new setting.
  7. If you’d like to make advanced font size adjustments, select Customise fonts.
  8. On the Customise fonts page you can change:
    • Font size - this is the base size used by websites that specify font sizes as percentages.
    • Minimum font size – make all text on a webpage appear at least this size.

Note: If this does not work it could be because someone else manages your computer settings (an IT department or administrator). If this is the case, you will need to contact them to access these settings or for further help.
