How to make the text larger on your Apple Mac computer by changing the screen resolution in macOS 14 Sonoma

Another way of changing the text size is using the Text Size options in the Accessibility settings. Currently, the Text Size options only work with a small number of apps - Calendar, Finder, Mail, Messages, and Notes. Short guide:

  1. Click the Apple icon in the top left corner of the screen and select System Settings.
  2. Click Displays in the sidebar.
  3. Click the drop-down menu for Resolution and choose Scaled.
  4. If you have an Apple screen, choose one of the options from Larger Text to More Space.
  5. If you have a different screen, choose from the screen resolutions listed. The lower the screen resolution, the larger the items on the screen will appear.

Open System Settings

1. Click the Apple icon in the top left corner of the screen and choose System Settings from the menu.

Open the Display settings

2. In the System Settings window, click Displays in the sidebar.

Open the screen resolution settings

3. On the Displays page, click the drop-down menu for Resolution and choose Scaled.

4. If you have an Apple screen, choose one of the options from Larger Text to More Space.

5. If you have a different screen, choose from the screen resolutions listed. The lower the screen resolution, the larger the items on the screen will appear.

Close System Settings

6. When you are happy with your settings, close System Settings by clicking the Close button (red circle) in the top-left corner of the window or using the Cmd + W keyboard shortcut.

Note: If this does not work it could be because your computer settings are managed by someone else (an IT department or administrator for example). If so, you will need to contact them to access these settings or for help.
