How to make the text larger on your Apple Mac computer using the Text Size options in macOS 14 Sonoma

Another way of increasing the size of the text on your computer is by changing the screen resolution. When you change the screen resolution, the text and all other items on your computer screen get bigger. Short guide:

  1. Click the Apple icon in the top left corner of the screen and select System Settings.
  2. Click Accessibility in the sidebar.
  3. On the Accessibility page, click Display.
  4. On the Display page, click Text Size.
  5. To set a custom text size for all supported apps, adjust the text size slider at the top of the window.
  6. To set a custom text size for a particular app, click the drop-down menu to the right of the app's name. Choose a size from the list.

This section gives you step by step instructions on how to make the text larger in macOS 14 Sonoma using the Text Size options, with pictures of the screens to help.

Open System Settings

1. Click the Apple icon in the top left corner of the screen and choose System Settings from the menu.

Open the Accessibility settings

2. In the System Settings window, click Accessibility in the sidebar.

Open the Display settings

3. On the Accessibility page, click Display.

Open the Text size settings

4. On the Display page, click Text size.

Change the text size for all supported apps

5. To change the text size for all supported apps, adjust the text size slider at the top of the pop-up window.

Change the text size on an app-by-app basis

6. To change the text size for a particular app, click the drop-down menu to the right of the app's name.

7. Next, choose your preferred text size for this app from the available options.

8. When you are happy with your Text Size settings, click the Done button.

Close System Settings

9. Close System Settings by clicking the Close button (red circle) in the top-left corner of the window or using the Cmd + W keyboard shortcut.

Note: If these instructions do not work, it could be because your computer settings are managed by someone else (an IT department or administrator for example). If so, you will need to contact them to access these settings or for help.
